Powers, the popular indie comic series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, is set to be adapted into an adult animated series by Netflix. The show will be produced by Dark Horse Entertainment's Keith Goldberg and Chris Tongue, with Bendis writing the pilot and Oeming contributing to the visual development. Powers follows two Chicago homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, as they investigate cases involving superpowers. The comic has received critical acclaim, winning an Eisner Award for best new series in 2001 and later moving to Icon, a Marvel imprint. The series is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new limited series published by Dark Horse.

Previously, Powers had a live-action adaptation on the PlayStation Network, starring Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward. Adult animation has been a successful genre for streaming services, with shows like Invincible and Devil May Cry gaining popularity. Powers is the latest project from Bendis to make its way to Hollywood, following the development of his graphic novel Torso at Netflix. Dark Horse, on the other hand, recently premiered the well-received dark comedy mystery film Kill Me at SXSW, which has a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
