Arkansas Folklife Festival Celebrates Musical Legends Bobby Rush and Lucinda Williams

The Arkansas Folklife Festival, taking place from June 26-28 at North Little Rock's Riverfront Park, will feature headliners Bluesman Bobby Rush and singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams. Rush, a 92-year-old modern blues legend with deep roots in Pine Bluff, recently won a Grammy for his album "All My Love for You." He is a member of multiple music halls of fame. Williams, known for her eclectic music blending country, blues, rock 'n' roll, and folk, has ties to Arkansas through her father, poet Miller Williams. Her album "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" won a Grammy and helped shape the Americana movement.
Festival director Rachel Reynolds highlighted the significance of Rush and Williams in representing the musical heritage of the region, from Pine Bluff juke joints to the songwriting traditions of the Ozarks and the South. The festival, which offers free admission, will showcase various stages and demonstration areas featuring traditional and contemporary musicians, craft demonstrations, cooking traditions, storytelling, youth activities, and opportunities for Arkansans to share their community traditions.
