Empowering European Cinema: Eurimages Funds 32 New Films, Prioritizing Women Directors

Eurimages, the European film support body, has recently announced its latest funding round for new films. The fund is supporting 32 feature films, including documentaries and animation, with a total of €9.8m. Notably, 17 of the projects are directed or co-directed by women, receiving 60% of the total funding.
Among the funded projects is "Fonda," a psychological thriller directed by Justine Triet, featuring a star-studded cast. Mia Hansen-Love's "If Love Should Die," a biopic of Mary Wollstonecraft, also received funding. Additionally, projects from renowned filmmakers like Cristian Mungiu and Bertrand Bonello were backed by Eurimages.
The selection includes a diverse range of films from various countries, such as "A Few Miles South," directed by Ben Pearce, and "A Thousand Days, A Thousand Nights," directed by Syllas Tzoumerkas. Each project received funding based on its unique vision and storytelling approach.
