A man has been sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, for sending racially abusive messages to England footballer Jess Carter on social media. Nigel Dewale, 60, directed derogatory comments towards Carter's race on her TikTok account during the Women's Euro 2025 tournament. The messages contained offensive remarks about people with brown skin. Dewale, from Great Harwood in Lancashire, received additional penalties, including community work, a football banning order, a curfew, and a fine, at Blackburn Magistrates' Court.
