Commemorating America's 250th Independence Day: NBCUniversal Local's 'Our 250' Campaign

NBCUniversal Local's NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations have launched "Our 250" (Nuestros 250), a comprehensive campaign to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence. The 100-day celebration will culminate on July 4 with NBCUniversal News Group's exclusive live coverage of Sail4th 250 events in New York Harbor, featuring the largest assembly of international ships in U.S. history.
"Our 250" initiative aims to inform, entertain, and support communities as the nation counts down to Independence Day. The campaign includes news coverage, specials, features, and vignettes across NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations' broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. The programming showcases America's history, traditions, people, and places, with tailored local content for each market.
As an official media partner of Sail4th 250, NBCU Local will provide multiplatform English- and Spanish-language coverage of the marquee Fourth of July events. The coverage will include the International Parade of Sail, International Naval Review, and International Aerial Review, featuring tall ships, naval vessels, and aircraft from various nations. The live presentation will capture the ships sailing past iconic landmarks in New York Harbor.
"Our 250" also features behind-the-scenes tours of tall ships, travel programs, and lifestyle shows highlighting international culture and cuisine. The campaign includes 'America's Field Trip,' a contest for students to express what America means to them through essays or artwork. Additionally, 250 students will have the opportunity to visit historic American landmarks as part of the America 250 program.
NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations are actively participating in local celebrations nationwide, such as Philadelphia's Welcome America festival and the Battle of Gloucester Reenactment in the Boston area. These events showcase the rich history and traditions of the United States, leading up to the grand celebration on July 4.
