February Food Inflation Report: Insights from Loblaw on Price Trends and Future Projections

Loblaw has released its latest Food Inflation Report for February, shedding light on the factors influencing food prices and providing insights into future trends. In February, inflation showed a slight decrease, with the overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropping to 1.8% from 2.3% in January. The cost of food purchased from stores also saw a decline, decreasing by 70 basis points to 4.1% compared to the previous month. Conversely, the price of food bought from restaurants experienced a notable increase of 7.8% during the same period, marking a significant rise from the previous year when prices surged after the conclusion of the GST/HST holiday in February 2025.
