Paul Gilbert Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Tribute To Jimi Hendrix with Digital Reissue

Paul Gilbert is set to mark the 25th anniversary of his album Tribute To Jimi Hendrix with a digital reissue on June 12 through Music Theories Recordings. The reissue will feature recordings from the Frankfurt Jazz Festival in 1991, where Gilbert performed a set of Jimi Hendrix songs. Initially invited to trade solos with Albert Collins, Gilbert ended up headlining the festival due to Collins' sudden health issue. With a makeshift band featuring members of Ten Years After, Gilbert delivered scorching renditions of Hendrix classics like Red House, Hey Joe, and Purple Haze. Despite the impromptu nature of the performance, Gilbert found that the spontaneity captured the essence of Hendrix's music authentically. The reissue of Tribute To Jimi Hendrix will be available for pre-order on lnk.to/TributeToJimiHendrix. Stay updated on the latest Heavy Metal news by signing up for the MetalTalk Newsletter.
