Sonya Walger Joins Cast of Amazon Prime Video's 'God of War' Live-Action Series as Freya: A Powerful Vanir Goddess

Amazon Prime Video's upcoming live-action TV series based on the popular video game "God of War" has added Sonya Walger to its cast. Walger will play the role of Freya, a powerful Vanir goddess and ex-wife of Odin, in the series. The show will also feature Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Callum Vinson as his son Atreus, along with a talented ensemble cast including Max Parker, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Mandy Patinkin, Alastair Duncan, Danny Woodburn, Jeff Gulka, and Ed Skrein.

Freya is described as a strong and insightful character who practices ancient magic. After being exiled from Asgard following her unhappy marriage to Odin, she has lived as a recluse in Midgard for a century. Walger, known for her roles in "Lost" and "For All Mankind," brings her talent to this intriguing character. The series will follow the story of Kratos and Atreus as they journey to spread the ashes of Faye, their wife and mother, while facing challenges from the Norse gods.

The show has received a two-season order from Amazon and is currently in production in Vancouver. Ronald D. Moore serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series. With a talented team of producers and co-executive producers on board, including Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, and Naren Shankar, "God of War" promises to bring the epic tale of Kratos and Atreus to life on the small screen. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated series.
