Disney+ and RTVE Partnership: Bringing Spanish TV Hits to Your Screen

Disney+ has announced a new partnership with RTVE in Spain, adding a selection of the public broadcaster's successful shows to its platform starting March 31. This collaboration aims to expand the entertainment offerings for Disney+ customers and provide RTVE with a new distribution window to reach younger audiences in Spain. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

This agreement with RTVE marks the first time a state broadcaster in Europe has agreed to make shows available on a streaming platform the day after their linear broadcasts. Disney+ has been actively forming partnerships with European broadcasters, including ITV in the U.K., ARD and ZDF in Germany, SIC in Portugal, and Atresmedia in Spain. This strategic move aligns with Disney's goal to make Disney+ the digital centerpiece of the company.

The deal with RTVE reinforces Disney+'s commitment to Spanish audiovisual production and talent, while also supporting RTVE's ambition to maximize the visibility of its content through global platforms. The collaboration aims to explore new synergies that contribute to the growth and strengthening of their editorial and audiovisual strategies.

As part of the agreement, Disney+ will premiere popular shows like MasterChef and MasterChef Celebrity, produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia. Additionally, an upcoming series titled Rojo Sobre Blanco, produced by Mediawan's Good Mood, will be included in the content lineup. More titles will be announced in the future, showcasing the rich heritage of RTVE's iconic shows to Disney+ customers.

Disney+ General Manager for EMEA, Karl Holmes, expressed excitement about bringing RTVE's top shows to Disney+ customers, highlighting the importance of enriching the service with high-quality local storytelling. This collaboration reflects Disney's commitment to working closely with Europe's free-to-air broadcasters and reaching new audiences with engaging content. The partnership with RTVE is just the beginning of a journey that is expected to lead to more projects in the future.
