Recap of the Division III Class 3A State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene: Athletes Showcase Strength and Skills

The Division III Class 3A state powerlifting meet took place at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene, where several athletes showcased their strength and skills. Kirbyville’s Austin Moody impressed in the 181-pound division, securing a second-place finish with a total of 1,635 pounds lifted. Central’s Javier Alanis Zamago also delivered a strong performance in the super heavyweight division, finishing fifth with a total of 1,670 pounds lifted.

Other notable results included Sabine’s David Evans-Young and Malakoff’s Marshall Milligan finishing 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 114-pound division. Hughes Springs’ Bryce Kelly and Anthony Nickleberry secured the 12th and 14th spots in the 123-pound division. Elkhart’s Nate Thompson finished 12th in the 132-pound division, while Central’s Cody Read, Sabine’s Dylan Walls, and White Oak’s Owen Gee placed 12th, 17th, and 20th in the 148-pound division.

In the 165-pound division, Hughes Springs’ Blaine Shaw finished 21st, while Troup’s Brett Wells and Malakoff’s Hunter Rush secured the 11th and 15th spots in the 181-pound division. Central’s Gabriel Mendoza and Troup’s Juan Salinas finished 14th and 17th in the 198-pound division, respectively. Daingerfield’s Gavin Anglin and Hughes Springs’ Billy Prince placed 10th and 13th in the 220-pound division, while Central’s Jeremiah Brecheen finished 10th in the 242-pound division.

Central’s Alyk Perkins and Winona’s Thien Nguyen secured the 18th and 20th spots in the 275-pound division, respectively. Huntington’s Solomon Reid and Troup’s Andre’A Dewberry impressed in the 308-pound division, finishing eighth and 10th. Kirbyville’s TJ Roberts rounded out the competition with a 10th-place finish in the super heavyweight division.

The athletes displayed incredible strength and determination throughout the competition, showcasing their dedication to the sport of powerlifting. Congratulations to all the participants for their impressive performances at the state meet in Abilene.
