Streaming Service Price Hikes: What You Need to Know

Netflix is increasing its subscription prices for U.S. customers once again. The standard plan with ads will now cost $8.99 per month, up by one dollar. The standard plan without ads will see a $2 increase to $19.99 per month. The premium subscription, offering four simultaneous streams and HD visuals, will also go up by $2 to $26.99 per month.
Other streaming services like HBO Max and Disney+ have also raised their prices recently. HBO Max's plans range from $10.99 to $22.99 per month, while Disney+ now charges $11.99 for the ad tier and $18.99 for the ad-free tier. Hulu's ad tier has also increased from $9.99 to $11.99 per month.
Despite the backlash from Netflix subscribers, financial analysts view the price hike positively, considering it good news for investors. This latest increase, roughly a 10 percent rise in prices across plans on average, follows the last price adjustment in January 2025.
