Energy Costs Surge: Ireland's Inflation Rate Reaches 3.6%

The recent increase in energy costs has led to a rise in Ireland's inflation rate, reaching 3.6% as reported on Monday. The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Ireland saw a 3.6% increase in the 12 months leading up to March, compared to 2.5% in the previous 12 months. Energy prices surged by 11.1% in March and 12.3% over the year.
On the other hand, food prices experienced a slight decrease of 0.3% in the last month but rose by 2.3% over the past 12 months. Excluding energy and unprocessed food, the HICP grew by 2.6% since March 2025. Service prices also saw an increase of 0.9% in a month and 3.3% over the 12 months to March.
Eurostat is set to release the March flash estimates of inflation from the EU HICP for the Eurozone on Tuesday. The rise in energy prices has significantly impacted Ireland's inflation rate, highlighting the challenges faced by consumers in the current economic climate.
