Project Hail Mary Dominates Chinese Box Office, Disney's 'Hoppers' Slips to Second Place

Columbia Pictures' sci-fi blockbuster "Project Hail Mary" secured the top spot at the Chinese box office over the March 27-29 weekend, raking in RMB53.3 million ($7.5 million) in its second week, bringing its total earnings to $18.3 million. Disney's animated film "Hoppers" slipped to second place with $5 million, reaching a total of $16.3 million. The racing-comedy "Pegasus 3" maintained its third position, adding $3.4 million to its total revenue, which now stands at $612.3 million. "Blades of the Guardians," a martial arts epic, followed in fourth place, earning $1.9 million for a cumulative total of $200.1 million. The comedy-drama "It's OK" rounded out the top five with $1.7 million in its debut weekend. Mainland China's weekend box office grossed $25.3 million, with year-to-date revenue at $1.67 billion, down 51.3% from the same period in 2025.
