Rock Legends Auction: Slash's Gibson Les Paul, George Michael's Faith Jacket, and More Up for Grabs

An iconic Gibson Les Paul guitar played by Slash during Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour is set to be auctioned off next month. The guitar, a ‘59 Custom Shop model, was used on stage and autographed by Slash during the band’s 2016 tour reunion. It is expected to sell for £150,000 to £300,000 at Propstore auction house in London.

Also up for auction is a jacket worn by George Michael in the music video for his hit single Faith in 1987. The jacket was also worn by the Grammy-winning artist during his Faith tour in 1998 and is estimated to fetch between £60,000 and £120,000. The auction will take place on April 30 and will feature other items like a gold microphone used by Freddie Mercury of Queen, expected to sell for £30,000 to £60,000.

Another highlight of the auction is an autographed promotional poster for John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Double Fantasy album, signed by Lennon hours before his death in 1980. The poster is expected to sell for £60,000 to £120,000. Handwritten lyrics to Goodbye by Paul McCartney, dating back to 1969, are also up for auction with an estimated price of £55,000 to £110,000.

Additional items include a Fred Perry trench coat owned by Amy Winehouse, with an estimate of £4,000 to £8,000, and an autographed jacket worn by Ed Sheeran in his Shape Of You music video, expected to sell for £3,500 to £7,000. The auction will feature over 400 lots with a total pre-sale estimate of £1.5 million.

Propstore music specialist Mark Hochman highlighted the significance of the auction, bringing together items from influential musicians like The Beatles, Queen, George Michael, and modern stars like Ed Sheeran. The auction offers collectors a unique connection to the artists and performances that have shaped the music industry over the years.
