Country Thunder Florida is scheduled to take place from May 8 to 10 at St. Pete Beach, featuring headliners Gavin Adcock, Zach Top, and Kane Brown. However, the festival organizers are facing challenges as they have yet to secure necessary permits and provide essential plans such as traffic, transportation, parking, waste management, and site plans. With over 10,000 attendees expected, Country Thunder Florida must also address concerns from the Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
During a City Commission meeting on March 24, Kim Blevins, the executive director of Country Thunder, acknowledged the hurdles they need to overcome but assured the community of their willingness to comply and collaborate. The festival organizers were unaware that the event coincides with shorebird nesting and sea turtle season, posing additional challenges. Despite already booking talent for future years, changing the dates would incur significant penalties.
As the event draws closer, Country Thunder Florida faces a tight deadline to meet all requirements and ensure a successful and environmentally conscious festival experience for attendees and wildlife alike. The organizers are committed to working with St. Pete Beach authorities to address concerns and deliver a memorable country music event.
