Barunson E&A and GDH 559 Partner for Horror Film 'Inherit': A Collaboration of Cultures and Creativity

Barunson E&A, the South Korean film studio behind the acclaimed movie "Parasite," has joined forces with Thai production house GDH 559 for the upcoming horror film "Inherit." The collaboration will see Barunson E&A handling international sales for the movie in regions such as North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. This partnership marks a continuation of their working relationship and introduces Barunson E&A to director Banjong Pisanthanakun, known for his successful Thai genre films like "Shutter" and "Pee Mak."

"Inherit" marks Pisanthanakun's return to the director's chair after a four-year hiatus. The film follows a wealthy family whose facade begins to crumble when an ancient centipede spirit infiltrates their lineage. The story is based on the Thai horror novel "Tayat Asun," which has garnered a loyal following since its release in 1991. Leading the cast is Davika Hoorne, known for her role in the critically acclaimed film "A Useful Ghost."

GDH 559 has a track record of successful films, with their 2024 title "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" grossing $73.8 million worldwide. The company's film "Human Resource" also premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2025. Barunson E&A has been actively forming partnerships with prominent filmmakers in the region, such as their collaboration with Indonesian director Joko Anwar.

Jina Osothsilp, CEO of GDH 559, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its cultural significance and universal themes of family and legacy. Yoonhee Choi, CEO of Barunson E&A, praised the film for its exploration of family dynamics and international appeal. The partnership is expected to lead to further collaborations, including potential co-development and co-production opportunities.

As Barunson E&A expands its involvement in early-stage development, the collaboration with GDH opens up possibilities for future projects rooted in webtoon and web novel IP. The partnership between the two companies signifies a shared commitment to creating compelling and culturally resonant content for global audiences.
