The Runarounds: A Look Back at the YA Series and Its Real-Life Band

Prime Video has decided not to renew the YA series, The Runarounds, for a second season. The show, which premiered its eight-episode first season on September 1, has been quietly canceled a few months ago. Despite the series ending, the rock band featured in the show, also named The Runarounds, will continue to perform. The band consists of real-life musicians who are also stars of the series, including William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher, and they are currently on tour until the end of June.

Created by Jonas Pate, known for co-creating Outer Banks, The Runarounds was inspired by a real band formed in 2021 for the Netflix series. The show was part of Prime Video's YA expansion, which included successful series like Maxton Hall and We Were Liars. However, The Runarounds, along with another show called Motorheads, did not receive a second season. Despite charting on Luminate's Top 50 in its first three weeks, The Runarounds did not make it into Nielsen's Top 10.

The Runarounds follows a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, who come together to form a rock band after graduation. The cast includes Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur, and Shea Pritchard. The series was executive produced by David Wilcox, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, Joon Yun, Scott Lambert, and Lisa Mae Fincannon, with Skydance Television involved in the production.

In conclusion, The Runarounds will not be returning for a second season on Prime Video. Despite the cancellation of the series, the band featured in the show will continue to perform, and the creators and cast members have moved on to other projects.
