Weber State University Welcomes Kaleb Canales as New Head Coach
Weber State University has selected Kaleb Canales to be their new head coach, according to sources. Canales brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as an NBA assistant coach for 15 years. He notably worked with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he even had a brief stint as the interim head coach in 2012. During his time with the Blazers, Canales had the opportunity to work alongside Damian Lillard, who is now the general manager of the Weber State men's basketball program.
In addition to his time with the Trail Blazers, Canales has also been part of coaching staffs for the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, and Orlando Magic. He has further expanded his coaching experience by working with the Mexican national team, the Texas Legends in the G League, and the Calgary Surge in the CEBL. Most recently, Canales served as the associate head coach under Scott Cross at Troy, where the team made it to the NCAA tournament this season.
