Dana Vaughns Shares Residual Check from 'Hoedown Throwdown' in Hannah Montana: The Movie

Dana Vaughns, known for dancing the "Hoedown Throwdown" with Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana: The Movie, recently shared on TikTok that he received a residual check from the film. Vaughns revealed that he made $66.40 from the movie, which he believes comes from people ordering it on streaming platforms like Disney+. Residuals can vary in amount, with Vaughns mentioning he has received checks as low as $9, $6, $4, and even 10 cents.
The Hannah Montana series, starring Miley Cyrus as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana, aired from 2006 to 2011. The cast, including Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, and Jason Earles, reprised their roles in the 2009 movie adaptation. In the film, Miley's character takes a break from her pop star career and performs the "Hoedown Throwdown" at a local fundraiser, with Vaughns playing a young dancer learning the dance.
Vaughns also shared a TikTok video recalling how Miley Cyrus taught him a break-dancing move on set. He mentioned that Miley claimed to have trained in break-dancing and taught him a neck isolation move. Despite not knowing the official name of the move, Vaughns expressed gratitude to Miley for teaching it to him, stating that it has been a valuable addition to his dance repertoire.
While Miley Cyrus did not respond to Vaughns' video, she recently commemorated the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana with a reunion special on Disney+. The Grammy winner shared her appreciation for the cast members she grew up with, including Jason Earles, Moises Arias, Cody Linley, Ana Maria Perez de Tagle, and Shanica Knowles, describing the experience as a full-circle moment. Miley expressed gratitude to fans for growing up alongside the show's characters.
