Connection: A Showcase of Student and Community Art at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum
The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has introduced a new art exhibition called Connection at the Taylor Swift Education Center. The exhibition showcases posters created by students from Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) and artists from Friends Life Community. Participants were inspired by Hatch Show Print, a historic letterpress shop, to design and produce their own posters, reflecting themes of social causes and creative art.
MNPS students visited Hatch Show Print to learn about its history, design principles, and printing process. They created foam and sponge shapes to print their designs, which influenced their final posters displayed in the exhibition. The posters use action words and imagery to convey a vision of people connecting over shared interests and artistic expression.
Friends Life Community collaborated with Hatch Show Print Master Printer Emeritus Jim Sherraden for a Teaching Artist in Residence program in 2023. In late 2024, Friends Life Community artists visited Hatch Show Print for a tour and hands-on poster-making session guided by Sherraden and Jennifer Haston. The artists brought their words, lettering, and images to life in colorful posters.
