Jaafar Jackson: Bringing Michael's Legacy to Life in 'Michael' Biopic

Jaafar Jackson, the 29-year-old nephew of the legendary Michael Jackson, is set to portray his iconic uncle in the upcoming biopic "Michael," scheduled for release on April 24. In a recent interview on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Jackson discussed his experience filming the Antoine Fuqua-directed project and shared heartfelt memories of his uncle. He emphasized that landing the role was not a Hollywood handout but something he had to earn through hard work and dedication to authentically bring Michael's story to life.
Growing up around the King of Pop, Jackson fondly recalled family time spent with Michael at the Hayvenhurst estate and Neverland, engaging in activities like family game days, hide-and-seek, and enjoying rides and movies together. He described Michael as kind, warm, and deeply loving towards his family, creating cherished memories that have stayed with him.
Despite the immense pressure of portraying such an iconic figure, Jackson felt a strong sense of responsibility to capture Michael's essence and mannerisms accurately. He underwent a rigorous two-year audition process to prove his ability to embody his uncle, eventually securing the role and immersing himself in the transformation process with the help of makeup artist Bill Corso.
Supported by his family, especially his grandmother Katherine Jackson, who praised his performance and noted his resemblance to Michael, Jackson expressed gratitude for the encouragement and guidance he received throughout the filming of "Michael." The biopic also features a star-studded cast, including Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, and Juliano Valdi, portraying key figures in Michael Jackson's life.
As the release date of "Michael" approaches, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing Jaafar Jackson's portrayal of his legendary uncle on the big screen. Will you be watching the film when it hits theaters?
