Matt Nathanson Pays Tribute to Billy Joel with 'Songs in the (M)Attic' EP

Matt Nathanson, known for his hit song "Come On Get Higher," wowed fans at the Billy Joel charity tribute concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Inspired by the event, Matt has recorded an EP of Billy Joel's songs titled Songs in the (M)Attic, a nod to Billy's 1981 live album, Songs in Attic. The six-track EP, with cover art resembling Billy's The Nylon Curtain album, will be released on April 17.
On Instagram, Matt praises Billy as one of the greatest songwriters of all time and expresses his pride and inspiration in creating the EP. The tracklist includes songs like "I Go to Extremes," "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)," "Pressure," "The Longest Time," "Uptown Girl," and "Only the Good Die Young." "Uptown Girl" and "Only the Good Die Young" are already available on digital platforms.
Matt immersed himself in Billy Joel's music, calling it a "Joel Hole," to appreciate the brilliance of Billy's songwriting. The EP is open for preorders on vinyl, and Matt will join Train as an opening act during the summer tour. While Billy Joel's songs are popular, not many artists have covered them. Some notable exceptions include Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Barry White, and Beyoncé.
