Royal Holiday Plans Altered: Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh Change Easter Break Due to Prince Andrew's Residence at Sandringham

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh had to alter their Easter holiday plans at Sandringham due to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Prince Edward and his wife Sophie had intended to stay at Wood Farm during their regular Easter break, but had to change their plans as the former Duke of York was still residing in the property. Andrew had temporarily moved into Wood Farm after being evicted from Royal Lodge earlier this year, where his late father, Prince Philip, had spent his final years. The royal couple had to use a 'holiday let', Garden House, instead of their original choice due to Andrew's presence at Wood Farm.

Andrew is expected to move to Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, which has undergone renovations, but he has been delaying the move, causing inconvenience to Edward and Sophie. The couple had to use Garden House for their Easter break, which can cost £4,110 a week in peak season. Edward reportedly visited Andrew at Sandringham to discuss expediting his move to Marsh Farm. Recent deliveries and installations at Marsh Farm indicate preparations for Andrew's relocation, including security measures and accommodation for security staff.

The King has covered the refurbishment costs at Marsh Farm due to Andrew's financial situation. A mobile home was delivered to Sandringham for security staff to stay when needed. The King instructed Andrew to vacate Royal Lodge, prompting a swift removal of his belongings. Aides were seen clearing out the property, including staff quarters where Andrew was attended to by royal staff. Andrew has faced consequences for his association with Jeffrey Epstein, losing his prince title and Dukedom. Despite his denial of any wrongdoing, Andrew was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
