Artemis II Astronauts' Space Wake-Up Playlist: Historic Lunar Flyby Mission

NASA has recently shared the official playlist of songs selected by the Artemis II astronaut crew for waking up in space during their ongoing lunar flyby mission. The playlist, chosen by Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, includes tracks like “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan and “Under Pressure” by David Bowie and Queen.

The Artemis II mission, launched on April 1, is NASA’s first crewed flight beyond Earth’s low orbit since 1972. The crew captured the first photos of the far side of the Moon, including a rare in-space solar eclipse, during their seven-hour lunar flyby. This mission marks humanity’s return to the Moon’s vicinity and has set several historic milestones, such as Glover becoming the first person of color to travel near the Moon.

The Artemis II crew, which includes the first woman (Koch), the first non-U.S. citizen (Hansen), and the oldest astronaut (Wiseman) to accomplish these feats, has ventured farther away from Earth than any humans in history. The mission’s historic launch broadcasts attracted over 18 million viewers across various networks. Stay tuned for more updates on the Artemis II mission and the crew’s space playlist.
