Pink Floyd's Unprecedented Reunion: 'Hey, Hey, Rise Up!' Charity Single for Ukraine

Pink Floyd, known for the infamous feud between its creative leads David Gilmour and Roger Waters, made an exception in 2022 by releasing a charity single titled “Hey, Hey, Rise Up!” to support Ukraine. The band, which had vowed never to reunite, came together for this cause, with Gilmour, Waters, and Nick Mason being the only surviving members. The lineup also featured Andriy Khlyvnyuk, a Ukrainian singer who left his band to fight in the Ukrainian military, and whose a capella rendition of the Ukrainian anthem inspired Gilmour to collaborate with Pink Floyd on this project. The collaboration not only boosted Khlyvnyuk’s profile but also gave Gilmour a renewed sense of purpose in supporting Ukraine during the ongoing conflict. Despite this reunion, Gilmour maintains that humanitarian aid during wartime is the only cause that would prompt him to reunite Pink Floyd.
