Toyota HiLux Recall: Steering Fault Due to Accessory Installation Error

Toyota has issued a recall for over 13,000 HiLux utes in Australia due to a steering fault related to the installation of popular accessories. The affected vehicles are the 2025-2026 Toyota HiLux models equipped with a Toyota Genuine bull bar or nudge bar along with a light bar. The problem arises from an installation error involving the electric power steering (EPS) system, specifically the incorrect orientation of an earth terminal during accessory fitting. This misalignment can lead to a loss of power steering assistance while driving, posing a safety risk. Owners will be contacted by Toyota to schedule an inspection at a dealership, where technicians will correct the orientation of the EPS earth terminal to ensure a secure electrical connection. The repair is expected to take around 30 minutes and will be done at no cost to the owners.
