Coward": Lukas Dhont's Poignant World War I Drama Premieres at Cannes

Lukas Dhont's upcoming film "Coward" has been selected to compete at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie, set during World War I, follows the story of a young Belgian soldier named Pierre who grapples with the concepts of cowardice and heroism on the battlefield. As Pierre navigates the challenges of war, he meets Francis, who is tasked with boosting morale among the troops. The film explores themes of love, death, creation, and destruction, highlighting the struggle for survival in the face of darkness. "Coward" marks Dhont's third feature film and his first foray into the realm of period pieces. The movie is a collaborative effort between Dhont and his longtime co-writer Angelo Tijssens, with production handled by Reunion, Lumen, Topkapi Films, and Versus (Opus). The film is set to be distributed by Lumière in the Benelux region and Diaphana Distribution in France, with international sales managed by The Match Factory.
