Rescheduled LIDO Festival in Victoria Park: Protecting the Grounds and Supporting the Community

The LIDO Festival, a popular environmentally-oriented music festival in Victoria Park, East London, has been rescheduled to late August this year to protect the park's ground conditions. The festival, known for its electronic and indie music lineup, was set to feature headliners like Maribou State, CMAT, and Bombay Bicycle Club. Due to last summer's drought causing dust issues, the park underwent a reseeding and improvement program, resulting in the need for a delayed start to the festival season. The decision to move the festival was made by the event organizers, with the full support of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH).

The festival's Instagram post announced the new date of August 31 for the LIDO Festival, with Maribou State and the full support bill performing on that day. Unfortunately, the previously scheduled events for June featuring artists like CMAT, Father John Misty, Sharon Van Etten, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Metronomy had to be canceled. Ticketholders will receive full refunds for these events. The organizers emphasized that the changes were necessary to protect the park's progress and benefit the community, and were not the fault of the artists or LBTH.

Following a wet winter, advisors recommended giving the newly improved park areas more time before starting the festival program to ensure continued progress and community benefit. The decision to delay the festival was made in collaboration with LBTH to support park users and the wider community. The rescheduling will not impact LBTH's financial commitments or AEG's support for community programs in the borough. Ticketholders can visit the festival's website for information on new show dates and automatic refunds.
