University Parking Lot Closures for A-Day and Morgan Wallen Concert: Impact on Faculty, Staff, and Students

The University is set to close parking lots near Bryant-Denny Stadium in preparation for A-Day and the upcoming Morgan Wallen concert. The closure will affect the West Commuter parking lot and faculty and staff parking on Wallace Wade Avenue. The lots will be closed from Friday at 5 p.m. until after the concert.
Mark Mayfield, an instructor at the College of Communication and Information Sciences, expressed concerns about the week-long disruption caused by the closure. He mentioned that finding alternative parking for faculty and staff is manageable, but he worries about the impact on students during the week before dead week.
Emily Montgomery, an academic advisor at the College of Communication and Information Sciences, acknowledged the need for safety measures on campus. She mentioned that the pleasant weather makes the longer walk to her office next week more bearable.
All campus lots will close on April 17 at 7 p.m. and reopen the following Saturday at 3 p.m. for concert parking permit holders. Regular parking operations, excluding areas near the stadium, will resume on April 19.
In conclusion, the temporary closure of parking lots near Bryant-Denny Stadium for A-Day and the Morgan Wallen concert may pose challenges for faculty, staff, and students. However, the University's efforts to ensure campus safety and accommodate event attendees are essential considerations during this time.
