Jonesboro Woman Accused of Theft After Keeping Erroneous Payment of $1,650 per Hour
A woman from Jonesboro, Arkansas, has been accused of theft after allegedly receiving an erroneous payment of $1,650 per hour for a 12-hour shift and refusing to return the money. Rene Nichole Coleman, 50, was supposed to be paid $16.50 by Superior Senior Care but received nearly $20,000 on May 10, 2025, due to an error.
According to the Jonesboro Police Department, Coleman claimed that she believed the money she received was from a bank loan she had applied for. Despite being given the opportunity by Superior Senior Care to repay the funds, Coleman reportedly used the money to repair her husband's semi-truck and then cut off communication with the company.
Coleman declined to meet with detectives in person and was eventually arrested on a bench warrant in Putnam County, Tennessee. She allegedly offered to repay the money before requesting legal representation. Coleman was charged with theft exceeding $5,000 but less than $25,000 and was detained at Craighead County Jail on a $15,000 bond. Her court appearance is scheduled for May 18, 2026.
