Rock History Highlights: April 12th

On April 12th, 1984, Rush released their album "Grace Under Pressure," which guitarist Alex Lifeson considers their most satisfying work. The album features songs like "Distant Early Warning" and "Red Sector A."
In 1982, John Mellencamp released his breakthrough album "American Fool," credited as John Cougar at the time. The album includes hits such as "Hurts So Good" and the breakthrough song "Jack And Diane."
On this day in 1979, Mickey Thomas, known for his time with The Elvin Bishop Group, announced that he would be the new lead singer for Jefferson Starship.
John Kay, the frontman of Steppenwolf known for the iconic song "Born To Be Wild," was born on this day in 1944.
