Sexual Assault Allegations Against Rep. Eric Swalwell Spark Criminal Investigation
The Manhattan District Attorney's office has initiated a criminal investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Democratic California Representative Eric Swalwell. The accusations stem from an incident in a New York City hotel room, where a former staffer claims Swalwell assaulted her. The accuser, who has chosen to remain anonymous, recounted the incident to CNN, stating that she was intoxicated and woke up to find Swalwell on top of her in his hotel bed. This is not the first time such allegations have been made against the congressman, as four women have recently come forward with similar claims. The accuser also alleged a previous assault in 2019 when she was an employee at Swalwell's district office.
