The No Name Gang: Uncovering a Dogfighting Conspiracy in Carver, Massachusetts

A man from Carver, Massachusetts, has been arrested and charged for his involvement in a dogfighting conspiracy that included breeding, training, and fighting dogs, as well as engaging in animal cruelty and illegal gambling activities. Corey Elliott, 49, is accused of conspiring to participate in an animal fighting venture in violation of the federal Animal Welfare Act. He was arrested and is set to appear in federal court in Boston. The charging documents reveal that Elliott and a co-conspirator operated a dogfighting venture under the name "The No Name Gang," where they bred, trained, and fought dogs for profit. They organized dogfighting events, discussed outcomes, placed wagers, and engaged in animal cruelty acts. Efforts were made to avoid detection by law enforcement, including using coded language and concealing dogs. Searches of their residences resulted in the seizure of dogs and evidence related to dogfighting activities. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison, supervised release, and a fine. Law enforcement agencies collaborated in the investigation, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danial E. Bennett. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
