Matt LeBlanc Returns to TV in CBS's New Cop Series 'Flint': A Character-Driven Drama with a Unique Tone

CBS is currently developing a new cop series starring Matt LeBlanc, known for his role in the popular '90s and early 2000s television show Friends. The show, titled Flint, follows a burnt-out LAPD detective who is unexpectedly asked to extend his service by five years, leading to a series of rule-breaking and order-disobeying incidents that surprisingly make him a better cop. The show is described as a character-driven premise with a unique tone, and if picked up, it will be shot in Los Angeles and potentially air in the 2027-2028 season. Flint is being developed by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, with LeBlanc also serving as an executive producer.

LeBlanc's previous sitcom, Man With a Plan, ended in 2020 after four seasons on CBS. In that show, LeBlanc enjoyed the shorter working hours and ensemble theater company feel of the multicamera sitcom format. Following his success on Friends, LeBlanc starred in a short-lived spinoff called Joey on NBC and later appeared in the Showtime series Episodes as a fictionalized version of himself. He also co-hosted the BBC car show Top Gear for four seasons before taking a break from television. Now, LeBlanc is set to make his return to broadcast television with the upcoming cop series Flint, which promises to showcase his acting talents in a new and exciting role.
