Two police officers are facing charges following the tragic incident that led to the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby in south east London in 2024. The 38-year-old woman lost her life after her car collided with a police vehicle on Eltham Road, Eltham on 17 October 2024. Despite efforts, her unborn child did not survive. Eyewitnesses reported that the woman's car flipped multiple times during the collision.

PC Chris Johnson, 56, the driver of the police vehicle involved in the collision, is facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving. Former PC Danny Tomkins, 35, the driver of the second police vehicle, has been charged with dangerous driving related to the standard of his driving.

Both officers are scheduled to appear at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 28 May 2026 to address the charges brought against them.
