Markéta Vondroušová Faces Potential Ban Amid Doping Controversy

Markéta Vondroušová, the recent Wimbledon champion, is facing a potential ban of up to four years due to an incident involving an out-of-competition doping control last December. According to iSport.cz, Vondroušová claims that the officer from Germany’s anti-doping agency did not follow proper procedures during the attempted test on December 3, leading her to deny access to her apartment. Despite the ongoing shoulder problems she has faced this season, the 46th-ranked player in the world is not currently under provisional suspension and intends to participate in the upcoming Madrid Open and the entire clay-court season.
Over the past weekend, Vondroušová competed in a Billie Jean King Cup qualifying match in Switzerland, where she and Tereza Valentová were defeated in doubles.
