Evolution of Sound: A DJ's Journey from Tokyo to Coachella

I am thrilled to be on tour again, having previously toured the U.S. and now playing in Argentina and Chile with Lollapalooza. The South American audiences have been fantastic, with fans singing along and even starting mosh pits during my sets. My performance on Boiler Room: Tokyo was a significant moment in my career, garnering over 18 million views on YouTube. I carefully curated the set to reach a wide audience, and I am grateful for its success. I continue to evolve my music selection and mixing techniques, aiming to create impactful and emotional performances.
I draw inspiration from films like EUREKA and Two Seasons, Two Strangers, appreciating the depth and nuances upon multiple viewings. Similarly, my music sets are multifaceted, blending different genres and BPMs to keep the flow engaging. I strive to entertain and connect with the audience, adapting my sets based on the event and the vibe of other performers. My dedication to providing a memorable experience for the audience has grown over the years, especially since organizing Zone Unknown in Osaka for the past decade.
Despite facing challenges like brain cancer surgery, I have persevered and focused on continuous improvement as a DJ and individual. My musical sensibilities have expanded, but I still gravitate towards powerful and impactful music. I aim to create a balance between hard and soft elements in my sets, creating layers of sound that resonate with listeners. My sets reflect a sense of catharsis and joy in living, offering a source of encouragement and empowerment in a world filled with darkness and misery.
I am grateful for the opportunities to perform internationally and am excited to make my debut at Coachella. I view DJing as a platform with endless potential for exploration and creativity, with new music constantly shaping the landscape. While I appreciate the recognition abroad, I remain deeply rooted in my Japanese identity and culture, finding inspiration in everyday experiences and interactions. My journey as a DJ continues to evolve, and I am committed to spreading a message of peace and positivity through my music.
