George Strait Concert Weekend: Lubbock Hotels Sold Out and Ready for Guests

This weekend, Lubbock, Texas, is gearing up for a surge in visitors as George Strait kicks off his tour in the city. Both Friday and Saturday concerts are completely sold out, leading to a shortage of available hotel rooms in the area. The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance predicts that hotels across town will reach 90%-95% occupancy, with Friday and Saturday expected to generate more hotel revenue than any single day last year.
Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Lubbock is fully booked and has a waiting list specifically for the concert weekend. The hotel's Director of Sales, Heather McDonnell, mentioned that they have been sold out for this weekend for at least a month. The staff at Courtyard has been preparing for the influx of guests with daily meetings and additional activities planned to enhance the guest experience.
Residence Inn by Marriott on University also reported being fully booked for this weekend three months in advance. General Manager Maria Rodriguez highlighted the need for extra staff during the concert days to ensure that guests are well taken care of. Special amenities and activities, such as gifts, happy hour, and decorations, will be provided to make guests feel welcomed and appreciated throughout the weekend.
In addition to hotels in the city, some accommodations outside of Lubbock are also fully booked for the concert weekend. Courtyard by Marriott in the Downtown/University Area will offer parking in their lot for a small fee of $5 plus tax to accommodate visitors attending the event. The anticipation for George Strait's concert has led to a surge in demand for accommodations in Lubbock, making it a bustling weekend for the city's hospitality industry.
