Charizard Cards Surprise: Groom Auctions Pokémon Collection to Fund Dream Wedding

A soon-to-be groom decided to auction off his vintage Pokémon card collection to help fund his dream wedding. Andrew Braund, a teaching assistant in England, and his fiancée Rachel Moseley had been meticulously planning their special day. Braund thought his collection would fetch around £500, but the surprise came from three valuable Charizard cards.

Charizard, a sought-after fire type Pokémon from the first generation, can fetch high prices, especially the holographic versions. Braund was shocked to learn that his Charizard cards from the 2003 “Skyridge” series were worth a significant amount. After getting them graded by PSA, one card sold for $21,250, another for $16,250, and the third for $3,500, exceeding his initial estimates.

The total earnings from the auction surpassed $40,000, providing a substantial financial boost for the wedding expenses. Braund admitted that the Charizard cards held less sentimental value compared to other cards in his collection. He expressed gratitude for the unexpected windfall and mentioned that the money would now alleviate any financial concerns about the upcoming wedding.

With the profits from the Pokémon card auction, Braund and Moseley can now look forward to their wedding in August without worrying about the financial aspect. The unexpected value of the cards has allowed them to cover the costs of their dream wedding, making the auction a fortunate turn of events for the couple.
