Dancing to Success: Kameron Saunders to Address UMKC Graduates

Kameron Saunders, a renowned dancer who has performed with Taylor Swift and other top artists, is set to address graduates at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) next month. Saunders, a recipient of the 2026 UMKC Conservatory Alumni Achievement Award, expressed his gratitude for the recognition on social media. Hailing from St. Louis, Saunders earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UMKC in 2014 and has since made a name for himself in the dance world.

Saunders' career has taken him around the globe, dancing, choreographing, and teaching. He has shared the stage with Swift, Chappell Roan, Lizzo, and appeared in music videos and movies. Despite facing challenges and doubts early in his career, Saunders has achieved remarkable success and is now being honored by his alma mater for his contributions to the arts.

Kansas City has embraced Saunders, particularly due to his ties to the city through his brother, Khalen Saunders, a former Kansas City Chiefs player. The city declared a special day in honor of Kameron Saunders and recognized his talent and dedication to dance. Saunders' upcoming speech at UMKC's commencement ceremony will inspire and motivate graduates from the conservatory and the School of Science and Engineering.

In addition to Saunders, Dr. Amy Patel, a breast radiologist and breast health advocate, will also address UMKC graduates in separate ceremonies. Patel, named the 2026 UMKC Alumna of the Year, is known for her work at the Breast Care Center at Liberty Hospital and her passion for the Kansas City Chiefs. Both Saunders and Patel exemplify the excellence and dedication that UMKC celebrates in its alumni, inspiring the next generation of graduates to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in their respective fields.
