I, Robot" Starring Will Smith Coming to Hulu: A Sci-Fi Thriller with a Twist

A popular sci-fi film from 2004 starring Will Smith is set to be added to Hulu's streaming platform soon. The movie, which received an Oscar nomination, follows a detective who investigates the death of a scientist, suspecting that an AI robot may be responsible.
"I, Robot" will be available for streaming on Hulu starting May 1, 2026. The story is set in the year 2035, where humanoid robots created by Dr. Alfred Lanning are meant to assist humans. When Lanning dies under suspicious circumstances, Detective Del Spooner suspects that a robot named Sonny may have been involved in his death.
Despite the skepticism of others who believe the robots are programmed not to harm humans due to the Three Laws of Robotics, Spooner discovers that Sonny was designed with free will, leading him on a mission to track down the robot. The film was directed by Alex Proyas and features a cast including Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, James Cromwell, Jerry Wasserman, and Shia LaBeouf.
"I, Robot" was originally based on a spec script by Jeff Vintar titled "Hardwired," which was inspired by an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery. The movie premiered in theaters in July 2004 and received mixed reviews from critics, with an approval rating of 57% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the mixed reception, it performed well at the box office, grossing $353 million worldwide against a budget of $120 million.
The film was nominated for an Oscar for its visual effects but ultimately lost to "Spider-Man 2." Fans of sci-fi and action movies will soon be able to enjoy "I, Robot" on Hulu, adding another exciting title to the streaming platform's collection.
