Jorgen Hus: A Legacy of Excellence - Retirement of Saskatchewan Roughriders' Long-Time Long Snapper

Jorgen Hus, the long-time long snapper for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, has decided to retire from professional football after a successful career with the team. His retirement comes after the Roughriders won the 2025 Grey Cup by defeating the Montreal Alouettes. Hus played a total of 177 games for the Roughriders, including regular-season, playoff, and Grey Cup matches. He was a key member of the team during their first-place finishes in 2019 and 2025, ending his career with a streak of 150 consecutive games played.
Hus was recognized for his outstanding performance during Grey Cup Week in 2024 when he received the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, which celebrates Canadian CFL players who embody the qualities of Canada’s veterans. In addition to his on-field contributions, Hus was actively involved in the community as a Player Ambassador for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, promoting literacy and mental health awareness in schools across the province.
Originally from Saskatoon, Hus began his football career playing for the St Joseph Guardians in high school before moving on to the Saskatoon Hilltops and the University of Regina Rams. He was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos in 2013 and later joined the Roughriders in 2015. Throughout his time with the team, Hus made significant contributions on special teams, including memorable moments at the opening of the new Mosaic Stadium.
Off the field, Hus and his wife, Kenzi, are proud parents of two daughters and continue to reside in Saskatoon. His retirement marks the end of a remarkable career with the Roughriders, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence in Canadian football.
