Michigan Wolverines Secure Commitment from Cincinnati Center Moustapha Thiam

Cincinnati center Moustapha Thiam has committed to the Michigan Wolverines after a visit to Ann Arbor. Thiam, a native of Senegal, played at DME Academy in Florida and was a top-50 high school recruit. He transferred to Cincinnati for his sophomore year after starting at UCF. Thiam, a 7-foot-2, 250-pound sophomore, averaged 12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks this past season. He is known for his size and defensive presence, with room for improvement offensively.

Thiam's commitment to Michigan comes after the firing of Cincinnati's head coach Wes Miller. Michigan's head coach Dusty May saw potential in Thiam's development and decided to pursue him through the transfer portal. Thiam's performance in a game against Michigan last season caught the attention of the Wolverines' coaching staff. On3's Joe Tipton predicted Thiam's commitment to Michigan, which was confirmed shortly after.

Thiam is considered the No. 13 overall player in the transfer portal and the No. 3 center by 247Sports. His addition to the Wolverines' roster adds depth and size to the team.
