Gunfight in East Houston: Police Respond to Armed Suspect in Parking Lot Break-In

An incident occurred in east Houston where a man was caught breaking into cars in a parking lot and opened fire on employees before engaging in a shootout with police. The Houston Police Department responded to the situation at a business near the East Freeway and Uvalde Road late at night. The man shot at employees who confronted him about the break-ins and continued firing as they sought refuge inside the store. When officers arrived, a gunfight ensued between them and the suspect inside the store.
Fortunately, no officers or employees were injured during the exchange of gunfire. The suspect, however, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
