Los Angeles Galaxy Triumphs Over Real Salt Lake with Marco Reus Leading the Charge
The Los Angeles Galaxy secured a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake with Marco Reus scoring two goals, including a penalty kick in the 85th minute. Reus opened the scoring with a 21-yard free kick in the 9th minute after a foul on Gabriel Pec. However, Real Salt Lake equalized with an own goal by Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski in stoppage time before halftime. Reus sealed the win with his second goal from the penalty spot, bringing his season tally to four goals and 10 in his career.
Marcinkowski made nine saves for Los Angeles, while Rafael Cabral recorded four saves for Real Salt Lake. Real Salt Lake suffered their first road loss after a six-match unbeaten streak, falling to 1-2-1 away from home. The Galaxy, on the other hand, improved to 2-2-1 at home following a 1-1-1 road trip.
