Opry 100 Honors Don Williams: A Tribute Concert with Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood

The Grand Ole Opry is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Don Williams' induction into the Opry with a special tribute concert featuring Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood. The event, titled Opry 100 Honors Don Williams, will take place on June 10 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Williams joined the Opry 50 years ago and performed hits like "The Shelter of Your Eyes" and "You're My Best Friend."
Keith Urban, who has cited Williams as a major influence, will headline the tribute concert. Urban's father was a devoted fan of Williams, and the singer's music played a significant role in Urban's upbringing. Trisha Yearwood, who shares a connection with Williams through their producer Garth Fundis, recorded a cover of Williams' hit "Maggie's Dream" for a tribute album in 2017.
In addition to the tribute concert, a new collection of previously unreleased Don Williams recordings will be released on May 29. Titled Epilogue: The Cellar Tapes, the album features tracks from 1979 to 1984, a period that produced some of Williams' most iconic songs like "Good Ole Boys Like Me," "I Believe in You," and "Tulsa Time." The recordings were discovered by Williams' son Tim Williams and longtime producer Garth Fundis.
The celebration of Don Williams' legacy at the Grand Ole Opry highlights his enduring impact on country music and his lasting influence on artists like Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood. The tribute concert and the release of the new recordings serve as a fitting tribute to a legendary artist who left an indelible mark on the genre.
