Heroic Students Save the Day: How Quick-Thinking Middle Schoolers Prevented Disaster on a School Bus
Quick-thinking students at Hancock Middle School in Mississippi prevented a potential disaster when their school bus driver suffered an asthma attack while driving. The driver, Leah Taylor, passed out, prompting the students to take action. Sixth grader Jackson Casnave noticed the bus swerving and immediately took control of the steering wheel. Another sixth grader, Darrius Clark, hit the brakes, and together they safely guided the bus to a stop on the median. Kayleigh Clark, an eighth grader, called 911 while Destiny Cornelius administered medication to the driver. The students' quick actions saved the day, and Taylor expressed her gratitude for their bravery. The students were recognized for their heroism at a pep rally and will enjoy a special lunch field trip as a reward for their courage.
