Punjab Kings Suffer First Defeat in IPL Thriller Against Rajasthan Royals
Punjab Kings suffered their first defeat in the Indian Premier League as Rajasthan Royals secured a six-wicket victory in a thrilling match. Donovan Ferreira's aggressive half-century, along with Shubham Dubey's impactful performance, guided Rajasthan to chase down Punjab's target of 228 runs in 19.2 overs. Marcus Stoinis' explosive 62 not out off 22 balls had propelled Punjab to a competitive total of 222-4 after being put in to bat by Rajasthan.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a strong start for Rajasthan, but Yuzvendra Chahal's impressive bowling spell of 3-36 helped Punjab make a comeback. However, Ferreira and Dubey's late onslaught in the final overs turned the game in Rajasthan's favor, with Ferreira sealing the win with a six and completing his half-century in style.
Despite the loss, Punjab Kings still lead the IPL table with 13 points from eight games, while Rajasthan Royals climbed to third place with 12 points. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore also have 12 points but are behind Rajasthan on net run-rate.
