The Bird Singers: A Heartfelt Tale of Friendship and Nature

Ginger & Fed, a Paris-based sales company, has acquired The Bird Singers, a debut feature film by French director Mathieu Robin. The movie follows the story of two childhood friends who discover their talent for competitive bird-calling. Starring François Damiens and Alexis Manenti, the film is produced by Mandarin & Cie and is based on the real-life experiences of Jean Boucault and Johnny Rasse.

Set in the 1980s in a small village in northern France, The Bird Singers focuses on the journey of two boys from different backgrounds who participate in a bird-calling competition. The film showcases the boys' passion for imitating birds and how it shapes their lives. Production for the movie began in the Bay of Somme, with the cast joining in September. The film is scheduled for release in France in 2027 by Apollo.

Director Mathieu Robin aimed to create a film that encourages audiences to reconnect with nature and their inner child through birdsong. The script, co-written by Robin, Emmanuel Courcol, and Irene Muscari, explores the protagonists' escape from their realities through bird language. Sabine Chemaly, the founder of Ginger & Fed, described the film as a rural version of Billy Elliot, highlighting its themes of tradition, nature, and the healing power of animals.
