The Lost Episode of The Morecambe And Wise Show: A Tribute to Eric Morecambe's 100th Birthday

A previously lost episode of The Morecambe And Wise Show from 1968 is set to be broadcast on the BBC. The episode, featuring British actresses Ann Hamilton and Jenny Lee-Wright, as well as a musical performance by The Paper Dolls, will air to commemorate the 100th birthday of Eric Morecambe. The comedy duo, consisting of Morecambe and Ernie Wise, entertained audiences until Morecambe's passing in 1984. The rediscovered episode was found by Film Is Fabulous! and will be shown on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer on 14 May, coinciding with Morecambe's birthday. Additionally, a documentary titled The Perfect Morecambe And Wise will be broadcast on BBC Four to celebrate the occasion.
Gary Morecambe, son of Eric Morecambe, expressed his excitement about seeing the episode for the first time since he was 12 years old. Noreen Adams, director of BBC Archives, praised the discovery of the lost episode and the opportunity to share it with viewers. Gail Morecambe, daughter of Eric Morecambe, also shared her delight in the rediscovery of the episode and the efforts to uncover lost programs from the archives. The broadcast of the long-lost episode is a wonderful tribute to the legacy of Morecambe and Wise and a special highlight in Morecambe's centenary year.
